All along with the town of Rethymnon, there are wide sandy beaches
You are always near the beach in Rethymnon. The beach promenade is several kilometers long and is a beautiful and lively evening walk.
Rethymnon is famous for its town beaches and its beach promenade. Here you still find the locals out on the promenade on Sundays dressed up and with their children in tow.
The town of Rethymnon is beautiful and the people are friendly. You will find an abundance of tavernas, shops, bars, cafes, and places to take the children. The shops have designer clothes, shoes and not to forget lots of jewelry. Gold, silver, and precious stones are at very reasonable prices.
One of my favorite places is the small Souvlaki bars in the narrow streets of the old town, one or two sticks of roasted pork with crispy chips and a cold beer or a glass of wine, pop for the kids of course! Another delicacy you should not miss is Loukomades, found in some of the small cafes in the old town. They are small deep-fried crispy balls and served with honey or chocolate sauce and vanilla ice-cream. Yum yum!
Rethymnon Town is a Venetian town with charming narrow streets and lots of shops, tavernas, cafes, and bars. It is located on the north coast approximately in the middle between Heraklion and Chania.
