Emilia's Village House - Crete
3 bedroom traditional Country House, Rethymnon
A charming 400 year old Cretan village house. The house has been totally renovated during winter 2021 and 2022.
The house belonged to Emilia's great grandfather her son Ari has made sure that the house has retain all its past character although offering modern day comforts and services such as Wifi internet and air-conditioning in the 3 bedrooms and also having a private swimming pool in the back garden with forced air generating artificial waves.
The villa
The village house is located in the village of Prines and access is via a narrow village road with its frontages overlooking open countryside. The property has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms and is suitable for 6/7 persons.
Entrance from a side village road to the splendid enclosed and large courtyard with jasmine plants emitting perfumed fragrances, flowers, shrubs and some antique hand made large flower pots.
From the courtyard there is a staircase to the first floor and the roof-top terrace. Up a few steps to the covered patio with stone benches and the swimming pool at the end of the garden where there are loungers and a dining table in a tree shaded area.
A double bedroom is accessed from the courtyard having a double bed, a shower and a small bathroom. Also from the courtyard is the door to an openplan sittingroom and kitchen with a sofa, table, chairs and the well equipped kitchen at the other end and is a spiral staircase to the upper floor where there are 2 bedrooms one double and one twin bedroom both with own bathrooms.
Prines Village
The village has two Grill tavernas, a mini market and some cafes all within walking distance. Prines Village is a midium size village and also has bus service to and from Rethymnon from the square every hour. Last bus 22.00 hours.
Also Atsipopoulo Village is only about 1.5 km away is a larger village which has an abundance of tavernas, cafes, supermarkets and one of the most popular bakeries in Crete + a pharmacy.
Rethymnon - Crete
The city of Rethymnon, on the north coast of Crete, lies on the island’s longest sandy beach and is known by visitors as the "hidden jewel" of Crete. Since 1400 BC the Minoans, Venetians, Turks and Cretans have built their ancient cities, minarets, citadels, the hilltop Fortezza, winding narrow streets, fishing harbour and lighthouse which create an old-world charm.
The city of Rethymnon is bustling with life and colours, you will find an abundance of boutiques with designer clothes, shoes, bags and furs. Jewellery shops offering diamonds, gold and silver. There is a lot to see and do for the whole family.
The tavernas serve the best of the Greek and Cretan cousine at traditional tavernas to exquisite restaurants all reasonable priced.
