Pigs in Pikris – Crete

Pikris is just a little hamlet in the area of Rethymnon. You will find a taverna owned by an old couple Kostas and Dina. You can get a beer, raki or a glass of wine here. If you want to eat anything other than a marvellous omelette you have to make a reservation.

Take a walk around the village and be moved back in time. The villagers are friendly and will offer you a drink and a bit of talk, mostly by gestures.

Sometimes you come across a flok of sheep or goats. But today I met a little flok of pigs from the nearby Roupes Village. It’s a lovely area and has a path the has been used since ancient times to Arkadi Monastery.

You are always welcome in Pikris
