 North East Crete

The main town in North-East Crete is Agios Nikolaos. a sophisticated Venetian town with numerous eating and shopping places. It is located by the sea and its main feature is the large lake in the middle of the town. A lovely place to visit.

About 8 kms from Agios Nikolaos and slightly north westerly is the Mirabello Coast where you will find Elounda town, a small and charming fishing village. This was one of the very first areas developed for tourism. The ancient small island of Spinalonga best known nowadays as a previous Leper colony can be seen from Elounda and Plaka, there are boats that ferry you to this unique island. South East Crete

The main town here is Ierapetra, a large Venetian town, charming and with good tourist attractions, tavernas, cafes and lots of shopping. Ierapetra has a long coastal promenade with Eateries all along the way. The area has a unique climate and the beaches with their dark grey sand are a pleasant place to spend some time sunbathing.
