Central North and south coast of Crete
In the central part of Crete, you will find 2 larger towns. The capital of Crete Heraklion, here you also find Heraklion airport. To East of Heraklion, you find Hersonissos a busy town, but it also has nice quiet places and it also has Cretes only a proper golf course; Crete Golf Club. In this are you also find the small quiet beach resort “Kato Gouves”.

After leaving Heraklion you reach the beautiful bay of Agia Pelagia. About 30 km before you reach Rethymnon, you will find the coastal village of Panormos a very popular holiday destination. Rethymnon town is about 55 – 60 Kms west of Heraklion and more or less in the middle of the northern coast. It’s a good place to stay as you have easy access to a lot of the sites to see in Crete. Rethymnon Town is characteristic that all along the town is sandy beaches and a kilometre long Beach promenade. We offer several accommodations in the Rethymnon area.
Some 20 km after you pass Rethymnon the highway takes you through a mile-long stretch of lovely sandy beaches known as Paradise beaches. Some 5 km inland you find the village of Argiroupolis, famous for its Roman baths and many waterfalls.
Plakias Village is on the south coast, its a popular holiday resort with many studios, apartments, and hotels. Also, the hamlet of Rodakino has a lovely sandy beach and a couple of great places to stay. To the east of Plakias, you find the famous Preveli Palm Beach. Check where to stay on the South Coast.
