See the beaches east of Rethymnon
The sandy beaches of Rethymnon stretch from far west of Rethymno city and more than 30 km to the east. Getting to a beach in this area is easy and rewarding, please enjoy some pictures from some of the best beaches here.
Sea Turtles Careta Careta
The endangered sea turtles “Careta Careta” use parts of the beaches for their nests. Volunteers mark the areas where eggs lay with low fences. Pay attention to the breeding grounds and avoid walking on the beach at night from mid-May to mid-September so as not to disturb the animals while laying their eggs and eggs hatching.
The beaches in these areas are sandy and some places mixed with pebbles and stones. There are large stretches where you can be on your own and a couple of places with beach bars, sun loungers and parasols.
