Kissamos,
the islands of Gramvousa and Balos
Kissamos
Is located at the far north-west end of the island. This part of
the island resembles the more rugged south Creta a lot and here
you still find the original Crete as this area is more unspoiled
and not so developed for tourism. It is a charming and beautiful
area. Within short distances you find the famous beaches of
Falasarna, Elafonissi, Balos and Gramvousa. The small town of
Kissamos has many tavernas, shops and supermarkets. Outside
Kissamos to the other side you find the harbour of Kissamos
where there are local boats to Balos and Gramvousa and a ferry
to Pelaponnisos on the Greek mainland. This is the right place
for those who seek calm rugged beauty.
