Hersonisos Eastern
Crete
Just 25 km east of the
Iraklion is one of the most cosmopolitan towns in Crete,
Hersonisos. A town with many late 20th century buildings
and hotels. It has the name of the ancient city that was
located in the same place that the harbour of Hersonisos
is today. The village of Old Hersonisos is located a
couple of kilometres inland and was built here because
of fear for attacks from pirates, that forced the
inhabitants of the village to move further inland.
Near Old Hersonisos there are two picturesque small
villages, Piskopiano and Koutouloufari, overlooking the
busy resort of Hersonissos.

Club only 5 kms The harbour of Hersonisos is famous for its night life
with many bars, restaurants and tavernas all along to
the beach.
At the neighbouring villages a number of small hotels and
apartments offer quiet and peaceful environment for
family vacation.
The visitor to the area of Hersonisos will find a large
number of shops with jewels, furs, clothing etc. and of
course many places to eat and drink.
Daily cruises are also organized by various travel
agents, to the neighbouring island of DIA and many other
small islands and beaches in the area.
